Creators (writers) Movement against Nuclear reactors have organized a hall meeting today ( 4 February 2012) titled "Koodankulam Nuclear power Plant – People on the edge of Disaster” in Chennai. Many renowned writers from Tamil Nadu are participating in the meeting citing the reasons why Koodankulam Nuclear power plant should be shut down. The hall meeting has been scheduled today at 5.30 pm in B.Ed Hall , Loyola College in Chennai.
The press statement from the Creators (writers) movement against Nuclear reactor issued by its co-ordinator, writer Arul Ezhilan states that "We are living in a period of injustice where we are ready to sacrifice a part of people in the name of country’s growth and dream of super power. The twenty-five year long protest struggle against Nuclear reactors has transformed into a joint mass protest comprising fishermen, farmers and dalits. Common people in Koodankulam are protesting against nuclear plant cutting across their common issues and casteism but few political leaders and pro-state media are trying to dishonor the people struggle through their false campaigns. However, the people struggle against nuclear energy is getting strengthened day by day in Koodankulam. In this situation, it is a social duty of intellectual society to extend their solidarity and contribute for the people struggle in Koodankulam.In this context , Creators (writers) Movement against Nuclear reactors have organized a hall meeting "Koodankulam Nuclear power Plant – People on the edge of Disaster” in Chennai. Many renowned writers are participating in the hall meeting.A joint statement against the Nuclear reactors will be issued by the writers in the end of meeting." The main speakers of the meeting are : Manushyaputhran , Ajayan Bala, Gnani , Baskar Sakthi, Amarantha, Jeyaprakasam , Kurumbanai Berlin, Paamaran, Kottravai and Malathi Maithri.
