Yet another example of The Hindu's continuous efforts to mislead the public when it comes to Tamils related issue. This time, 'The Hindu' tries multiple targets with a single stroke: 1) to suppress the support extended by Sikh Political party (Dal Khalsa) for commuting death sentence to the three Tamils convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case 2) to label the TamilNet as pro-LTTE and anti-India website and 3) to isolate the Tamils protest from other nationalities in India.
TamilNet exposed the Hindu's attempt by publishing a news article "The Hindu misquotes TamilNet" on 3 September,2011.

Below is a letter from Friends of Tibet.
How The Hindu Manipulates PTI Reports The below example shows how a Press Trust of India (PTI) report is being tampered, with the purpose of deception by The Hindu, the national newspaper of India. On April 27, 2011 PTI publishes a story on Lobsang Sangay, the newly elected Prime Minister of the Tibetan Government in Exile in India. The story was republished by major newspapers that are subscribed to the wire-agency. On April 28, 2011, The Hindu publishes the story by adding 'unauthorised' words and sentences to defame the newly-elected Prime Minister and the Government in Exile. Compare the original PTI story with the manipulated report of The Hindu. Friends of Tibet learns that the practice of adding the byline of a wire-agency after the manipulation of an original report is unethical and a breach of agreement between a newspaper and the PTI on publishing rights.

The following letter was sent to the employees of The Hindu, the Chennai based newspaper on 20 April 2011.
Letter from N. Ravi, Editor, on the recent happenings in The Hindu
April 20, 2011
Dear colleagues,
Even as we are entering the second, and what might turn out to be a prolonged, phase of conflict and turbulence in the institution, I write to seek your understanding.
In a shocking display of bad faith that has left me deeply anguished, N. Ram and some of the directors at the meeting of the Board on April 18, 2011 have sought to remove me and appoint as editor Siddharth Varadarajan who joined The Hindu in 2004.

The recent series of incidents happening between India and Sri Lanka at the backdrop of alleged LTTE’s re-emergence in Indian soil assumes political importance at the stage when Sri Lanka is trying to extend the emergency period. On 9 March 2011 Sri Lankan Prime Minister D M Jayaratne spoke in the Sri Lankan parliament that LTTE is still operating from Tamil Nadu. He added that there are three camps running in Tamil Nadu while opening up the debate on extension of state of emergency in Sri Lanka. Soon after the debate, the emergency law in Sri Lanka has been extended for one more month.
The sequel of events that happened after the Sri Lankan PM statement seems to be a conspiracy plotted for extending emergency in Sri Lanka. Every time when the emergency law comes up for renewal in Sri Lankan parliament the Tiger story is carefully resurrected and thereby justifying the extension of emergency.
